November 20th marks the Trans Day of Remembrance, the day each year where the trans community looks back at the previous year and acknowledges those lives lost in the trans community. Last year an unbelievably high 389 people lost their lives to both extreme violence, and to suicide that was more often than not caused by transphobic abuse. Sadly, 2023 is an even more deadly year for the trans community, with more than 390 lives lost.
Each of the names on this list are people. They had lives, they had families and friends, hopes and dreams. And they just wanted to be able to live their lives in peace as themselves. Their names deserve to be known, and their stories heard. This article will try to do this as best I can.
Please be aware, this list will deal with murder, abuse, and suicide.
Tiffany Banks
Tiffany Banks was shot and killed on 1st October 2022 in Miami, Florida (USA). She was 25-years-old.
On October 1, Tiffany was killed in her hometown. There is very little information on the circumstances of her death. Crimestoppers reports she was killed around 8:13 AM. On October 5, Miami-Dade Police arrested and charged a man with murder in the 2nd degree with a weapon. Her family and friends use deadnames and misgender the deceased, the facts are complicated to find. Tiffany’s family buried her under her deadname, but included the name Tiffany and current photo in her obituary.
Tante Butet
Tante Butet was beaten to death on 3rd October 2022 in Bekasi, Jawab Barat (Indonesia). She was 50-years-old.
Tante was beaten to death inside her beauty salon by one of her employees. After the murder the employee locked her inside the building, and her body was later found by local residents.
Karla Santos was run over by police on 3rd October 2022 in Pabellón de Arteaga, Aguascalientes (Mexico).
Karla was killed when a police vehicle hit the motorcycle she was riding, running her over. Police claim that they were chasing her, believing her to have been involved in the purchase of marijuana.Her friends and family maintain that that was not true, and that she had not purchased drugs.
Naomi Cabral was strangled and suffocated to death in a hotel room on 5th October 2022 in Ardea, Lazio (Italy). Naomi was 47-years-old.
Naomi was found dead in a hotel room with no apparent signs of violence, but forensic examinations later revealed that she was strangled and suffocated to death. A 35-year-old man, who was a client of hers, was later arrested for her murder.
Natasha was shot and killed in the street on 6th October 2022 in Forquilha, Ceará (Brazil). She was 27-years-old.
On 6th October 2022 residents in the Forquilha area heard gunshots around 3am. Natasha's body was found in the street around 6am. Police investigated the incident, but no killer has been found.
Bianca was shot in the head twice on 6th October 2022 in Primavera do Leste, Mato Grosso (Brazil). She was 22-years-old.
Bianca was found shot twice in the head in the street in Primavera do Leste. her belongings were missing, as her death was treated as a violent robbery. No suspect was apprehended.
Alexia and her husband, Lairton, was shot and killed in an execution style attack on 6th October 2022 in Salvador, Bahia (Brazil). She was 19-years-old.
On the evening of 6th October Lairton spoke to his father on the phone, mentioning how he and his wife were in an argument with a neighbour over garbage bags, and that he had to resolve the issue. Lairton's father tried calling them again half hour later but could not get through. Within an hour police informed him his son and daughter-in-law were dead. Alexia and Lairton were found shot in the street and were taken to hospital, where they died of their injuries. A photo taken before their death shows them with their hands tied behind their backs, sitting on the floor. No one has been arrested for their murders.
Joyeey was strangled to death by her husband on 9th October 2022 in Chittagong (Bangladesh). She was 20-years-old.
Joyeey was strangled to death by her husband, who used his belt to kill her, and her body was dumped in a field following an argument due to him wanting to leave her. He was arrested, and admitted to her murder.
Mayté was stabbed to death on 9th October 2022 in Calaraca, Quindio (Colombia). She was 28-years-old.
Mayté was stabbed in a public park in the early hours of the morning on 9th October, and she was soon found by local authorities. She died on her way to the hospital due to her injuries. Mayté had previously reported that she had received threats to her life. Her killer has not been found.
Juraj was shot and killed in the Tepláreň bar shooting on 12th October 2022 in Bratislava (Slovakia). They were 27-years-old.
Juraj was one of two victims shot and killed outside the Tepláreň bar in Bratislava in October 2022. They were killed by a far-right extremist who later took their own life. The incident was classified as a terror incident by authorities, and that it was a targeted attack on the LGBTQ+ community.
Daniely was killed after being hit by two vehicles on 14th October 2022. She was 26-years-old.
Daniely was hit by two vehicles in the early hours of 14th October, both of which fled the scene. Emergency services were called to help, but she died from her wounds. The drivers were not caught, and it is not apparent if this was an accident, or a targeted assault.
Ester da Silva was stabbed, and her body decapitated, on 14th October 2022 in Natal, Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil). She was 15-years-old.
Ester was found dead on the grounds of the municipal polyclinic hospital on 14th October. Her body had been repeatedly stabbed, one of her little fingers removed, and her head was missing. Her body was identified by friends thanks to her clothing. When notified of their daughters death her parents refused to take her body, and told her friends to bury her where she was found'; she had previously left home due to her parents hate of her being trans. In July 2023 the man responsible for her murder and mutilation was sentenced to 18 and a half years in prison.
Bárbara and her boyfriend were shot and killed on 15th October 2022 in Jaboticabal, São Paulo (Brazil)Rafaela. She was 23-years-old.
Bárbara and her partner, José, were shot and killed outside their family home following an argument with a man. Bárbara's mother, who witnessed the incident, ran to her daughter, and was also shot in the leg. By the time she reached her daughter and took her into her arms she was already dead. The murderer has not been caught.
J.C. lost her life to suicide on 16th October 2022 in Cartago, Valle del Cauca (Colombia). She was 18-years-old. No further details are known.
An unidentified trans person was found murdered on 17th October 2022 in Cancun, Quintana Roo (Mexico). They were aged between 26 and 30.
News reports say that the victim was found inside their apartment, naked and beaten to death with a hammer. They were found by relatives. Media sources use he/him pronouns, and identify them as a 'transvestite', but due to common media misgendering their true gender is, like their name, unknown.
Victória Jakson was stabbed to death on 18th October 2022 in Presidente Epitácio, São Paulo (Brazil)Jakson. She was 37-years-old.
Following an argument in the street with Victória a man left the scene, and returned carrying a number of knives. He attacked Victória from behind, stabbing her in the back. A member of the public tried to help her, but was injured in the attempt. Victória died of her injuries, but her attacker was arrested.
Daniella 'Danny' Santos was shot on 17th October 2022, and later died in hospital on 18th October 2022 in Senhor do Bonfim, Bahia (Brazil). She was 20-years-old.
Danny was shot at a bus stop at around 7pm on 17th October, and managed to receive medical help thanks to the help of her friend, Audrey. Danny died of her wounds the next day. Audrey was later shot herself whilst attending Danny's wake, though is believed to have survived. Two assailants were later arrested for her murder.
Melissa Núñez was shot in the street on 18th October 2022 in Morocelí, El Paraíso (Honduras). She was 42-years-old.
Melissa, who had been a US resident for 25 years, visited Honduras in December 2021, but was denied re-entry to the US the following year. She was an active LGBTQ+ rights campaigner and activist. She was shot in the street near her home by a group of masked and hooded men. The motive for the killing is unknown, and no one has been arrested.
Britney Hernández Vargas died after being beaten by police on 20th October 2022 in Xalapa, Veracruz (Mexico). Her age is unknown.
Britney died two months after being brutally assaulted by police officers during an unprovoked raid on her home. Local sex workers claim that police often assault sex workers in the area, forcing them to perform sexual services on them with the threat of assault and arrest if they refuse. It appears that Britney was targeted by police in this way. She was beaten by more than a dozen officers. She went to hospital two months later complaining about severe abdominal pain, and later died. It was found that her lung, liver, and kidneys had collapsed. No charges have been made regarding her death.
Jessica 'Yulia' Zoe was shot in her home on 20th October 2022 in Ecatepec, Estado de México (Mexico). Her age is unknown.
Jessica was attacked in her home by an assailant who shot her. She died of her injuries. Her attacker was arrested following an outcry from the local community.
Samantha Nicole Quirino was found hanged on 22nd October 2022 in Cuyo, Palawan (Philippines). She was 32-years-old.
Samantha's body was found near her friends home, where she had previously been seen drinking. Her body was found by several local residents who witnessed her body hanging from a tree. It is not clear if she lost her life to suicide, or if someone killed her.
Chiara Colombini lost her life to suicide on 24th October 2022 in Naples, Campania (Italy). She was 19-years-old.
Chiara came out as trans two years before, but had been the victim of relentless bullying in school. She had previously reached out to the Gay Centre in Rome, who provided her with some assistance. Sadly, on 24th October, when her mother left home, Chiara lost her life to suicide. She had previously said 'I feel like I'm in a labyrinth with no exit.'
Brayden Snyder lost his life to suicide on 25th October 2022 in Ephrata, Pennsylvania (USA). He was 15-years-old.
Brayden lost his life to suicide following bullying and discrimination in his local community. His family celebrated his life on 7th November, where they encouraged those attending the service to wear band shirts to represent Brayden's love of music.
Evelyn Sampaio de Moraes was strangled to death in a hotel room on 25th October in Sumaré, São Paulo (Brazil). She was 24-years-old.
Evelyn was found strangled to death in a hotel room by her friend, who went to the staff for help. The man that Evelyn had been with reportedly fled the scene, ramming his car through the hotel gates in order to leave. He was arrested in December that year.
Luciana Desiré Vaca lost her life to suicide on 26th October 2022 in La Paz (Bolivia). She was 34-years-old.
Luciana was a model and human rights activist, and had won multiple modelling awards. In August 2022 she was attacked by her boyfriend, who stabbed her eight times whilst she was sleeping. The attack left her a wheelchair user. Following the assault her mental health took a serious blow. She began to think of herself as a burden on others, believed that she would not be able to continue her old life, and was afraid her partner would return to attack her once again. She took her own life in her home. Se said that she felt the attack and her becoming disabled was a punishment from God.
An unidentified trans woman was shot and killed on 28th October in Ciudad Juarez, Chihuahua (Mexico). Her body was found laying in the street. No killer has been caught.
Liz Hernández was found murdered on 1st November 2022 in Padilla, Tamaulipas (Mexico). She was 18-years-old.
Liz went missing on 16th October 2022, but was found at Vicente Guerrero dam weeks later on 1st November, alongside the body of a murdered gay man. The man's body showed signs of violence, but due to decomposition such signs were not present on Liz. No killer has been found.
Jessica 'Jessy' Silva was found stabbed to death on 3rd November 2022 in Fortaleza, Ceará (Brazil). her age is unknown.
Jessy's body was found in the Parque Ecológico do Passaré zoo, with multiple stab wounds. Police investigated the incident, but no arrests have been made.
Kauana Vasconcelos was stabbed to death on 3rd November 2022 in Ibicaraí, Bahia (Brazil). She was 16-years-old.
Kauana was taken to a local residence in Ibicaraí by a man on a motorcycle, who stabbed her, before dragging her to a vacant area in order to try to drown her. Neighbours witnessed the attack and were able to rescue Kauana and take her to hospital. Unfortunately, she died of her wounds.
Kimberly Fernanda Mendoza Sevilha was murdered on 4th November 2022 in Cuautla, Morelos (Mexico). Her age is unknown.
Kimberly was one of five women found murdered in an execution style killing, another of whom was also trans. She was found handcuffed and shot in the head. Three of the women were dismembered and dumped in plastic bags, their identities unknown.
Renata Nicole Duarte Reyes was murdered on 4th November 2022 in Cuautla, Morelos (Mexico). She was 29-years-old.
Renata was one of five women found murdered in an execution style killing, another of whom was also trans. She was found handcuffed and shot in the head. Three of the women were dismembered and dumped in plastic bags, their identities unknown.
Maël Eden Paufert lost his life to suicide on 5th November 2022 in Strasbourg, Bas-Rhin (France). He was 30-years-old. Maël was part of a number of self help groups, but unfortunately lost his battle to depression.
Martha Torres Lomelí was found murdered on 5th November 2022 in Irapuato, Guanajuato (Mexico). She was 58-years-old.
Martha was found dead in her home when her friends investigated after not hearing from her for several days. Upon entering the home they smelt decomposition, and called the police. Martha was eventually found under the stairs. No one has been arrested for her murder.
Carla Pereira was found murdered in her home on 5th November 2022 in Teresina, Piauí (Brazil). She was aged between 41 and 50.
Carla was found beaten to death with a pickaxe, and wrapped in a sheet in her bed at her home. It was reported that friend of hers was staying with her, and that the two could be heard arguing on a number of occassions. He went missing after the discovery of Carla's body, but was arrested for her murder in January 2023.
Myles Fitzpatrick lost his life to suicide on 7th November 2022 in Manville, New Jersey (USA). He was 17-years-old.
Myles was supported in his transition by his family, but was the victim of abuse and bullying in school. Myles began his transition two years prior, during lockdown whilst school was remote, but once he attended school again he became the victim of persistent abuse, being shoved into lockers, having objects thrown at him, being kicked, and having his hair pulled, as well as verbal abuse. His mother believes that the school failed to protect her son, and is suing the school district. Due to the abuse Myles became severely depressed, and engaged in self harm. he attempted to end his life more than once, and lost his battle on 7th November.
Keyti Sayuri Rodríguez Vásquez was stabbed to death on 8th November 2022 in Santiago (Chile). Her age is unknown.
Keyti was found stabbed in the street in the early hours of the morning. Help was called for her, but she died before it could arrive. It is reported that she was living homeless.
Nazma Akhtar was shot and killed by police on 9th November 2022 in Chittagong (Bangladesh). She was 30-years-old.
Nazma was involved in an incident when her brother was arrested by police for dealing drugs, in which police opened fire on a group of people trying to prevent the arrest.
Jerry Rodrigues was shot and killed on 10th November 2022 in Coreaú, Ceará (Brazil). She was 45-years-old.
Jerry was shot whilst sitting outside her family home. Police were called to the incident to investigate, but no one has been arrested for her murder. Jerry had received threats to her life prior to the incident.
Chepina Arteaga Morante was shot on 10th November 2022 in Chone, Manabí (Ecuador). She was 22-years-old.
Chepina was attacked and shot in her home. Her family attempted to get her to the local hospital for help, but she died on route. No one has been arrested for her murder.
An unidentified 19-year-old trans woman was dragged out of a beauty salon, her body found shot to death two days later on 11th November 20 in Caucaia, Ceará (Brazil).
An unidentified trans woman was found shot multiple times and killed on 12th November 2022 in Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico).
Dani Cooper, also known as Maiken, was shot and killed by police on 12th November 2022 in Vancouver, British Colombia (Canada). They were aged between 25 and 30.
Dani was shot and killed by police during a mental health welfare check in which they were called to their home. Dani was misgendered in the media following their murder.
Karen Sánchez Alvarez was shot on 12th November 2022 in Toluca, Estado de México (Mexico). She was 21-years-old. Karen was found shot to death near a bus terminal.
J. was stabbed to death and their body dumped in undergrowth on 13th November 2022 in Bogo City, Cebu (Philippines). They were 15-years-old. J. went missing after walking home from a party, their body found naked and covered in flies the next day. No killer has been found.
Emma Borhanian was shot and killed on 13th November 2022 in Vallejo, California (USA). She was 31-years-old.
Emma was shot and killed as one of the victims in a property dispute that also saw an elderly resident stabbed. Police arrested a suspect, but no details were released.
An unidentified trans woman was found dead in her home on 15th November 2022 in Tamazula de Gordiano, Jalisco (Mexico). She was found with injuries on her body, but no details have been released.
Adalyn Anderson lost her life to suicide on 15th November 2022 in Oklahoma City (USA). She was 24-years-old.
Marta Castaña Torres was stabbed and killed on 17th November 2022 in Rome, Lazio (Italy). She was 65-years-old.
Marta was one of three sex workers stabbed to death in Rome on the same day. Her body was found in her home in the early hours of the morning.
Mariela Jorgelina Romero was found dead in her home on 17th November 2022 in Berisso, Buenos Aires (Argentina). She was 58-years-old. Few details about her death have been released following the discover of her body in her home, but it is believed she may have lost her life to suicide.
Finn Hall lost his life to suicide on 18th November 2022 in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire (United Kingdom). He was 16-years-old.
Finn had been struggling with his mental health for a number of years, as well as eating disorders. He had also been self harming. On 18th November his mother found Finn in his room after he took his own life.
Bruninha da Silva was stoned to death on 18th November 2022 in Belo Jardim, Pernambuco (Brazil). She was 24-years-old.
Bruninha's body was found in the Maria Cristina neighbourhood, in Belo Jardim, with injuries consistent with that of being stoned. No murder has been found.
Kelly Loving was one of the victims shot to death in the Club Q mass shooting on 19th November 2022 in Colorado Springs (USA). She was 40-years-old.
Kelly was one of five people killed in the Club Q shooting, with another 19 injured. Her sister, Tiffany, said that Kelly used her own body to shield others. 'When the guy came in shooting, Kelly went to turn to look and it (bullet) hit her and she covered, his name is Wyatt, she covered him up,' her sister said. Her killer was arrested.
Daniel Davis Aston was one of the victims shot and killed during the Club Q shooting on 19th November 2022 in Colorado Springs (USA). He was 28-years-old.
Daniel was a bartender and entertainer at Club Q, and was one of the five people killed by the gunman. Daniel was an active member of his local LGBTQ+ community, and grew up wanting to entertain people and make them happy according to his mother.
Rihanna Rodrigues dos Santos was beaten to death on 20th November 2022 in Campo Grande, Matto Grosso do Sul (Brazil). She was 37-years-old.
Rihanna was attacked by her boyfriend following an argument about money. He hit her over the head with a piece of wood, killing her. He was eventually arrested at a bus stop after fleeing the scene.
Matty Sheldrick lost his life to suicide on 22nd November 2022 Brighton, East Sussex (United Kingdom). He was 29-years-old.
Matty lost his life to suicide outside Brighton hospital's Accident & Emergency department following a series of failures to help him from the NHS. It was reported that he had a complex history with his mental health struggles, and despite trying to get help from the hospital was let down by them on an almost continual basis. Eventually Matty hung himself from a road sign outside the A&E department. The hospital attempted to resuscitate him, but he passed due to complications.
Brenda was burnt to death on 22nd November 2022 in San Martin, Buenos Aires (Argentina). She was 27-years-old.
Brenda died in hospital after suffering burns to 70% of her body in an attack at her home two weeks prior to her death. A man was arrested for the attack.
Bekett Noble lost their life to suicide on 23rd November 2022 in Ancaster, Ontario (Canada). They were 34-years-old.
Bekett lost their life whilst at Redeemer University, where they were a student. In a note left behind after their death they stated that the university was failing its LGBTQ+ students, and that more needed to be done to improve things, and prevent others from losing their life in a similar manner. 'Don’t let it happen again' his letter implored them.
O. E. B. Pineda was shot to death in the street on 23rd November 2022 in Valencia, Carabobo (Venezuela). She was 24-years-old
Diamond Jackson-McDonald was shot on 24th November 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). She was 27-years-old.
Diamond was shot multiple times and killed inside her mothers home. The door was found open, ith no signs of forced entry. Her killer has not been found.
Olvin Osório Doroteo was stabbed to death on 24th November 2022 in Oluta, Veracruz (Mexico). His age is unknown.
Olvin was found stabbed to death in his home the day after his friends and family lost contact with him. Police report that there was indication that he was also tortured. Olvin worked for a group aigind refugees. No killer has been found.
Ángela María Bernal Ospina was shot and killed on 25th November 2022 in Mariquita, Tolima (Colombia). She was 39-years-old.
Ángela was shot and killed by a drunk man who attacked her livestock. A fierce lover of animals, Ángela confronted the man when he attacked her livestock, and he shot her in the chest with a shotgun. Her killer was later arrested.
Ana Paula dos Santos was stabbed and beaten to death on 27th November 2022 in Jaciara, Mato Grosso (Brazil). She was 32-years-old.
Ana was found in her home, stabbed repeatedly and with her head crushed. The home was broken into, and there was evidence of violence throughout.
Adriana Santos was burnt to death on 28th November 2022 in Messias, Alagoas (Brazil). Her age is not known.
Adriana and her partner were found burnt to death in a fire in their home. Police believe that it may have been started deliberately, but no suspects have been identified.
An unidentified trans woman was found dead in a drainage canal with severe head injuries on 29th November 2022 in Guadalajara, Jalisco (Mexico).
Day Rodas died of an overdose on 1st December 2022 in Malibu, California (USA). She was 27-years-old.
Day was found unresponsive by a passer-by on a roadside in the Santa Monica area. First responders tried to resuscitate her but she was already deceased.Police believe Rodas overdosed and her body was left along the road, the investigation is continuing as a homicide investigation.
Morgan Dee lost her life to suicide on 4th December in Fort Wayne, Indiana (USA). She was 32-years-old. It has been reported that she lost her life to suicide due to anxiety and fears over how trans people are being treated.
Jossi Córdova Macas was shot and killed on 4th December 2022 in Arenillas, El Oro (Ecuador). Her age is unknown.
Jossi was shot to death in her sleep in her home when a van of masked assailants broke into her house in the early hours of the morning.
Gabriela was stabbed to death on 4th December 2022 in Bogotá, Distrito Capital (Colombia). She was aged between 30 and 40. Gabriela was stabbed to death by her partner following an argument. He fled the scene and has not been caught.
An unidentified trans woman was found killed on 8th December 2022 in Ciudad de Mexico (Mexico). Her partner was charged with her murder. It was the first time a suspect has been prosecuted for femicide against a trans woman in Mexico.
Destiny Howard was shot and killed on 9th December 2022 in Macon, Georgia (USA). She was 23-years-old.
Destiny was found shot to death in a parking lot. She was misgendered and deadnamed by the police. Her killer has not been caught.
Jaqueline Fyoruti was stabbed to death on 9th December 2022 in Três Lagoas, Mato Grosso do Sul (Brazil). She was 49-years-old.
Jaqueline was attacked in her home during a robbery. Despite defending herself she was stabbed several times and died of her injuries. She was partially decapitated in the assault. Her attacker dropped his wallet in her home, and was identified that way, but has not been caught.
Endriely Prestes Aguiar was shot to death on 9th December 2022 in Canaã dos Carajás, Pará (Brazil). She was 30-years-old.
Endriely was shot to death in the street by a client. He has been identified by police, but has not been caught.
Claudia Díaz Pérez was murderer on 11th December 2022 in Cartagena, San Antonio (Chile). She was 73-years-old. Claudia was found dead in her home with head injuries, a man has been arrested in connection to her murder.
Mar’Quis ‘MJ’ Jackson was beaten to death on 14th December 2022 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania (USA). He was 33-years-old.
Mar'Quis was found dead in his back yard with head injuries. A suspect was identified, and is being sought by police.
Ximena Madrid Flores was found dead on 14th December 2022 in Teotihuacán, Estado de México (Mexico). She was 28-years-old. Her body was found in the archaeological zone of the ancient city of Teotihuacán. It is unclear if she was killed, or if she lost her life to suicide.
W. de Oliveira Rodrigues was stabbed to death on 15th December 2022 in Campo Grande, Mato Grosso Do Sul (Brazil). She was 22-years-old. She was stabbed by her prtner and taken to hospital, but died of her injuries. He has yet to be caught.
Henry Berg-Brousseau lost his life to suicide on 16th December 2022 in Louisville, Kentucky (USA). He was 24-years-old.
Henry was the son of Democratic State Senator Karen Berg, who said that Henry lost his life to suicide due to the inequalities facing trans people, and the growing anti-trans sentiment in the US. She has spoken about him repeatedly when trying to oppose new anti-trans bills.
Ariana Diaz Chávez was strangled to death on 16th December 2022 in La Plata, Buenos Aires (Argentina). She was 42-years-old.
Ariana was found strangled to death by a fried, with a belt tied around her neck. A month later her killer was arrested after CCTV footage was used to identify him.
An unidentified trans woman was found shot to death in an alley on 16th December in Tijuana, Baja California (Mexico).
Lully Pimentel was shot to death in the street on 17th December 2022 in Vitória de Santo Antão, Pernambuco (Brazil). She was 19-years-old. Her killer has not been found.
Caelee Love-Light was shot and killed on 17th December 2022 in Phoenix, Arizona (USA). She was 27-years-old.
Caelee was found shot to death in a vehicle by police. It appear that her attacker was also in the car, and that she stabbed him in self defence. He later died in hospital.
Levi Martin lost his life to suicide on 18th December 2022 in Lakeville, Massachusetts (USA). He was 17-years-old.
Levi was intersex, transgender, and gay, and had recently learned of his condition. Despite finding acceptance from his parents, and becoming educated on intersex conditions he lost his life to suicide on 18th December. Manuel was defending the Atlanta’s South River Forest from the construction of a law enforcement training village along with other protesters. SWAT officers were sent in to clear the camp, and Manuel was shot 57 times. The police report that Manuel fired on them first, but had no body cam footage to confirm their claims. Eventual autopsy proved that Manuel was shot whilst sitting down with their hands raised. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said that would not pursue criminal charges against the officers who killed them.

Noah lost his life to suicide after being denied gender affirming care by the gender clinic. Despite having the love and support of his family, Noah was denied care from the gender clinic. Speaking about his mother's fight to get him help the family said 'Lauren rang places, went to the doctors, tried everywhere to get help, but it was just like doors were closing in her face. Nobody was responding to her call for help'. Noah tried to take his own life, and received CPR from his father. He was taken to hospital, where he died several hours later, allowing his family the chance to say goodbye to him.

Luna Ramírez Soto died after having her throat slit on 24th March 2023 in Bello, Antioquia (Colombia). She was 29-years-old. Luna's attacker slit her throat whilst she was rough sleeping.
Rebeka Vendaval was beaten and stoned to death on 25th March 2023 in Paraupebas, Pará (Brazil). Her body was found in the street.
Victoria Pereira was stabbed to death in the street on 25th March 2023 in Rivera (Uruguay). She was 22-years-old. Victoria was a member of the Naturaleza trans, a stage documentary in which three trans women shared their life stories.
Kenia Salazar was shot and killed by an unknown assailant whilst walking home on 29th March 2023 in Chocaman, Veracruz (Mexico).
Ketlhyn da Silva Nascimento was shot and killed on 29th March 2023 in São João Del Rei, Minas Gerais (Brazil), the victim of a murder-suicide. She was 16-years-old.
Mónica Jiménez Belmont was beaten to death on 29th March 2023 in Ciudad de México (Mexico). She was found on her bathroom floor with signs of violence and wounds consistent with being beaten to death. The police have refused to investigate the incident, calling her death a suicide. She was 41-years-old.
Emmily Rodrigues fell to her death on 30th March 2023 in Buenos Aires (Argentina). The circumstances around her death are not known, and businessman was arrested in connection to the incident. She was 26-years-old.

An unidentified trans woman was shot and killed in her home on 31st March 2023 in the Gustavo Vázquez neighborhood of Colima (Mexico).
Karla Santos was set on fire and died on 1st April 2023 in Itabuna, Bahia (Brazil). Karla died in hospital from multiple organ failure three weeks after she ran into the facility on fire, having been doused in alcohol and ignited by her abusive ex-partner. She was 44-years-old.
Brigitte was stabbed to death by her ex-partner on 2nd April 2023 in Guayaquil, Guayas (Ecuador).
Tania Viviana Sandoval Ramírez was stabbed to death on 5th April 2023 in Trujillo, La Libertad (Peru). Tania was stabbed in her workplace, where another trans woman was stabbed to death three years earlier, and received multiple wounds. It is reported that it took several minutes for her die.
Ariel Mendoza was tortured and burnt on 7th April 2023 in Managua (Nicaragua). She was 36-years-old.
Ariel's body was found in a vacant lot, partially burnt, and with signs of torture. She had been missing for eight days.
Cecibel was stabbed to death on 7th April 2023 in Buena Fe, Los Rios (Ecuador). She was 31-years-old. Cecibel was stabbed in the neck and arm in her apartment, where she later died. It is believed her partner committed the crime. No one has been charged with her murder.
Jordana Cortez was murdered on 9th April 2023 in Esmeraldas (Ecuador). Ne further details were released.
An unidentified transgender teen aged 15 lost his life to suicide on 10th April in Ho Chi Minh City (Vietnam). The news was broken by a teacher at his school who reported that his parents weren't supportive of his transition.
Sofia Inés Fernández died whilst in police custody on 10th April 2023 in Pilar, Buenos Aires (Argentina). She was 39-years-old.
Police announced that Sofia died by suicide whilst in custody. However, the official autopsy revealed that she had a thong and pieces of mattress lodged in her throat. Ten officers are currently being investigated over the matter.

Moe Moore was found in the Ohio River on 14th April 2023 in Louisville, Kentucky (USA). It is believed he may have lost his life to suicide, but no further details have been revealed. He was 18-years-old.
