The Times Newspaper Mocks Trans People Over Census Proposal

Following the suggestion that the question requiring people to include their sex on the national census be removed to be more inclusive of transgender and gender variant people, The Times has reported on the news with a cartoon that mocks transgender people.

This article, titled 'No sex, please, this is the census', can be found by clicking HERE.

The recommendation that the question regarding sex be removed from the census is simply that, a recommendation, and is still being discussed. Despite this, The Times has reported that this change will come after 'protests', protests which have not happened.

This is not the first time that The Times has published an article that has targeted the transgender community, having also attacked the children's charity Mermaids.

  2. As someone who has done behavioral research for decision making gender, I can tell you knowledge of gender is an important piece of data. Males and females don't think alike. Additional choices would be a better solution.
