Star Wars: Bounty Hunters #27 - Comic Review

This issue of Star Wars: Bounty Hunters gets some points for having the action take place on a space station party hub orbiting a black hole called the Accretion Disco. That wonderfully bad pun alone is worth reading this book for.

The plot of this new arc sees Tonga and her crew of misfits looking for some cash so that they don't have to end up taking a job with Crimson Dawn. They get hired to protect some high ranking Pyke Syndicate people whilst they party on the previously mentioned Accretion Disco. Sounds simple enough; but the gang have barely arrived when they come under attack from Nar Kanji fighters.

As the group gets split up, fighting the enemy, Tasu Leech, who's himself from Nar Kanji, gets approached by some of the 'villains', who tell him that he's protecting a man who murdered children on their home planet. When the rest of the team catch up with Tasu, the clients are dead. Now comes the question, did Tasu do it?

Also, back with the Empire, Valance decides that he does in fact want some sexy time. And that's it for his portion of the story this month.

I've definitely been liking this series more now that the cast has expanded a little, and that we're not just soley focusing on Valance all the time. That being said, his part of this issue was almost non-existent. I know he's also popping up in Star Wars: Darth Vader, but it would be nice if his appearances in the series that used to be all about him felt like they were worth the time.

Some of the best bits of the issue, however, are Tonga's crew, and seeing them having formed bonds and relationships now is very enjoyable. Bossk is always enjoyable, Zuckuss has started to relax and be a bit more of a character now that 4-LOM is back. But the best stuff here were with Losha, who's still reeling from the death of their Nexu. To be honest, I'm still sad about that too. It's something that is driving her to push herself, to prove that she's strong and capable, and I think that that grief is going to have a significant effect on her.

This series has always been consistently entertaining, and this is a perfectly decent start to a new story arc.
